Robert Scheidt matches Torben Grael as Brazilian biggest Olympic medal winner

This Sunday (05.08) in Weymouth, yachtsman Robert Scheidt won the fifth Olympic medal of his career, matching the record of the also yachtsman Torben Grael, Brazilian athlete with the highest number of podium finishes in Olympic Games.   The bronze, won together with bowman Bruno Prada, in the star sailing class, is Brazil?s 17th Olympic medal in sailing.

The medal won in London will go to Scheidt's collection, adding to his two gold (in the laser class in 1996 and 2004) and two silver (in the laser category, in 2000 and 2008) medals.  This Sunday's result was Bruno Prada's second podium, he won a silver medal in Beijing four years ago.

Toben Grael has two gold (in the star class in 1996 and 2004), a silver (soling category in 1984) and two bronze (star category in 1988 and 2000) medals.

The decisive regatta took place in Weymouth bay and was won by Swedes Fredik Loof and Max Salminen, who were in third position, but ended up taking home the gold. The silver medal ended up with the British duo Ian Percy and Andrew Simpson who were leading the competition until Sunday.
